Can I Be Sued for Old Debt in a State I Left Years Ago?

A company is trying to sue me for a debt they bought... the original debt is from 2013. They're doing this in a state I no longer live in... haven't been there for over 10 years. The original case was in 2013... then the new company lawyer reopened it n 09/24. Has anyone had something like this happen to them? Is there anything I can do here?

Hey, you should send a validation letter to check when the first delinquency date was. Then, look up the Statute of Limitations in your state. If it’s passed, you’ve got some options. They might have re aged the debt, but I can’t be sure without seeing it.

Just a heads up, if you haven't agreed to anything yet, they might be trying to catch you before the statute of limitations runs out. But hey, 12 years is a pretty long time, and in many states, it's actually shorter than that.
