How can I negotiate lower payments with my credit card company?

Hello. II am overwhelmed and stressed. I have never been in this position before. I cannot pay. I am facing financial hardship. I lost my second job. I needed to focus on my health. I cannot make a payment this large. I have two cards with them. They are asking for the same amounts. That is $700 just for the minimum. Do you have any suggestions? I will call them soon. I want to see what they can do. What should I say to ask for help?

I'd give them a ring! Looking for another job could be a good move, but hey, if there's a plasma donation spot nearby, you could earn about $480 a month from that. I juggle a side gig and donate plasma myself it adds up to almost an extra $1,000 monthly, which really helps chip away at all that debt! ✨

Just give them a call, honestly explain what's going on. They'll work with you, so you won't end up with missed payments, or late ones. They did it for me. I lost my job, couldn't cover rent... and Capital One? They slashed my monthly payments. Got it down to something small manageable for both cards. Kept me afloat until I could catch up.

Just call them up, pour your heart out about what you're going through, and they'll totally pause your card and cover your payments for six whole months!

I'm going to be honest: I've done a lot of research, and I'm in the same situation. I'm about to file for bankruptcy. Someone told me about a court document preparer, and the person I'm using is charging me $280 to help me file.

Hey, let me tell you if you're going through a tough spot, you should totally reach out to your issuer and talk about a hardship program, lower minimums, or maybe a temporary payment plan. The awesome part? This can slash your monthly payment right away, help you dodge those annoying late fees, and stop your credit from taking a hit. But, heads up: some programs might freeze interest or lower payments for a bit, but they could stretch out your repayment time, or your account might get flagged as “managed under hardship” on your credit report. Honestly, it's stll way better than just missing payments, but make sure you get every detail in writing!

Oh, and you’ve got to check out my velocity banking post about crushing debt without even feeling it just remember, your spending can’t outrun your income!

Hey, one idea is to try a bank that does 0% interest on long term financing with balance transfers. If you move the balance over, the monthly payments should be way easier to handle.

First, request a payment plan. If that fails and the debt goes to collections, I will assist you. We will pursue debt waiver and statutory damages under the FDCPA, specifically 15 USC 1692c(c), using the refusal to pay method. I have successfully sued these collectors before. I know the required steps. My own account balance exceeded $3,000.

You might consider calling JG Wentworth. I’ve heard they offer debt consolidation programs that could potentially stop the interest and perhaps help negotiate a lower settlement amount. Speaking from my own experience, I tried it the process took about two years, but it seems to have helped me get back on track, at least in my view.

Hey, so I’m a credit analyst at a big bank Capital One. Here’s what you do: call their customer service and ask for the hardship department. Just tell them straight up you’re going through a tough time because of health problems and a drop in income. They’ve got a hardship program or a temporary lower payment plan. When you talk to,them, be real about what you can actually pay even if it’s just $5 a month, say that. Yeah, bankruptcy is always an option, but honestly, try this first before you go down that road.

Capital One offers INCREDIBLE payment options for those who can't make their payments. I used it once for my cards. I would definitely call them to see what they can do.

As long as you report your income and confirm that you have it, they will cancel your accounts and break up your payments into monthly installments typically over 60 months. It's GUARANTEED.
