Hey everyone, looking for some suggestions on accounting software for sole traders here. I work as a broker.

Hoping for something afforadble but still reliable—nothing too fancy, just a good balance. I’m GST registered and totally new to withholding tax, super, BAS, and all that, so I’d love something that makes it quick and easy to handle.

Good invoicing features are a must, and it’d be great if it can connect with banking apps too. Thanks a bunch!

Xero can be a real pain sometimes, making updates that don’t seem to help many folks, but it’s the one most people and accountants end up using.

I’d recommend chatting with your accountant to see what they prefer. If you go with something they don’t like or use, it could cost you way more than just the subscription fee.

I chose Quickbooks.

My friend uses Xero. He often complains. It makes things harder. It keeps getting more expensive.

Visit their Facebook page. You will see many negative comments.

Hey there! So, I started out with QuickBooks, but honestly, I've switched over to Xero since then. I’ve gotta say, it’s been a much smoother ride for me.

Xero is fantastic though your wallet might feel a little lighter! MYOB is friendlier on the budget, but it could challenge your.patience with its learning curve. Steer clear of those bargain basement picks like Recon or Quickbooks they’re notorious for throwing curveballs with bugs.

If your operation is small and your funds are shy, you could flirt with freebies like Zoho Invoice or Frappe Books for a bit. But be warned: all that manual typing might drive you bonkers, and soon you'll be on the hunt for a more polished partner.
