Owed $160K by clients—should I hire a debt collector or lawyer?

Hello.

I have a Pty Ltd. Two clients owe me money. Each owes about $80k. They just aren’t paying their invoices, and I’m not sure what to do next, really. It’s a lot of money to be out of pocket, and it’s starting to feel like it’s dragging on without any resolution in sight.

Should I hire a debt collector or a lawyer?

Thank?you.

It's concerning that many business owners don't know how to handle unpaid clients. This is a common issue some businesses even close because of it. You often end up spending more money to recover debts, and frequently, you get little or nothing back.

See a solicitor who deals with this issue. And they will serve demands with a time frame to pay. But if payment fails, the solicitor will go for judgment, and then bankruptcy. Which doesn't help you. But going this route will get their attention.

A trusted lawyer is my go to.
If they’re undisputed and owed by PTY Ltd companies, don’t mess about.
Go straight to statutory demands cost around $500–$700 each.
Give them 21 days to pay.
Otherwise, you can file a winding‑up notice against them.
It’s amazing.
When you have an expired statutory demand, excuses fade away and money shows up.
