Can I make extra money online or at my local gym as a carpenter?

Hi guys,

I’m a qualified carpenter.

I’m looking to earn extra money, and I’ve been thinking about taking on a second job after hours. I’m passionate about the gym, so I thought I could maybe pick up some hours working at my local gym.

What are the pros and cons?

But honestly, what I’d really love is to earn income online. I guess I’m after valuable knowledge, nad I’m just not sure where to turn.

As a sparky who can make good money anytime due to huge shortages in the trades, I also want advice on how to spend my resources and energy learning a new skill set to earn peanuts compared to doing jobs within my trade that I ALREADY have the skillset, tools, and experience to do.

I previously worked on Bunnings' night replenishment team, typically 5–10 or 5–11 PM. I put in 30+ hours there while doing carpentry during the day. The money was excellent! That was over 10 years ago now.

Like others have said, carpentry – but only if you’re genuinely into it. If you’re the type of chippy just half assing every day while working under someone, don’t bother trying to do weekend work – it won’t end well. But i f you’ve got half decent skills and tools, then it’s a no brainer, honestly.

I started doing my own jobs most weekends from my third year of apprenticeship onward. One Facebook post in the local group kept me busy for nine months straight. And if you want any advice on getting started, just flick me a message.

Honestly, if I were you, I'd do cashies as a carpenter. You'd easily make $100 plus per hour. You won't make that in part time gym work.
