What career paths suit an introvert burned out on IT support?

Hey guys,

For those of you who studied IT or are working in the tech world now, what area or field are you in? And for those who’ve moved on from IT, what are you doing these days?

I’m in my early 30s, pretty introverted, and I haven’t really been loving IT—especially support work, project work, and data analysis. It feels a bit overwhelming with the constant info overload, all the problem-solving, and the need to keep learning new stuff all the time—it’s been really mentally draining.

Right now I’m unemployed and job hunting, and the market feels super competitive. I don’t want to waste my IT degree, but I’m not sure which direction to go next.

Any tips or insights would mean a lot
 
So I dove into IT, but by the end of my first semester I knew coding just wasn’t my jam .

I pivoted my degree to business and info systems as much as I could, then jumped into consulting for a few years talk about boring!

Next I became a tech analyst. Loved it, but I was basically giving away my research for free . So I switched to sales and absolutely loved it.

I always knew I wanted to be my own boss, so I finally started my own mortgage broking business. Only wish I’d done it sooner!

If youu’re motivated and ready to hustle, sales can open up a ton of doors for you.

Being introverted? Big advantage in sales, I swear. It helps you stay real no hard‑sell, American‑style pushiness.

There’s definitely money in IT, but if you don’t enjoy it, it’ll make you miserable. I wouldn’t go back no matter how much they paid me.

Don’t be scared to pivot. You’ll look back and wish you’d made the move way earlier .
