I’ve been thinking deeply about why certain savings methods never stuck for me. I realized it wasn’t a lack of discipline—it was the wrong approach.
Savings challenges with constantly changing numbers—save $1 the first week, $2 the next, $3 the next, and so on—feel overwhelming and exhausting to me. What works far better is consistency. Saving $25, $50, or $100 a week (depending on the week) feels simple, achievable, and sustainable.
Once I stopped forcing myself into systems that didn’t fit, saving became less stressful and more intentional.
If you’ve struggled with saving and couldn’t figure out why, you’re not laone, and you’re not broken. You may just need a method that aligns with how you think.
What’s worked for you (or what hasn’t)?
