Posting anon because I don’t want my office team INUNDATED with messages or doxxed on socials. If this post speaks to you, comment below and I will PM you directly.
I see a lot of young guys looking to start in the trades, or figuring out their next move after completing a trade or leaving a big building firm.
I’m a SEQLD and Northern Rivers commercial builder looking for a foreman—preferably trade-backed—to learn what it REALLY takes to be a good builder, not just someone who answers a phone or unlocks a gate at 6:30am.
It means thinking for yourself, learning, talking to clients and developers, sitting in on meetings, making decisions autonomously, and just generally having a go without constant hand-holding.
Trade, secondary, or uni education is preferred, but I'll consider anyone smart, who can think on their feet, use a computer, and read drawings. If you have a trade, you’re one step ahead.
I’m happy to invest and teach ANY young gun—same as what was given to me when I started by two good builders. But after 10 years in business and 20 years in the trade, they seem like UNICORNS these days.
You can live a comfortable life in the building trade and do well financially if you apply yourself and care for your team. Eventually, you might be in my shoes writing a post like this, just like I am now, 20 years after I started.
The ideal candidate would live between Brisbane and Tweed Heads.
Salary/ABN, Ute, car, phone, laptop, travel account—it’s all part of the deal, but you’ve got to show you’re worth it.
Cheers, elgends.
