Payday loan alternatives?

Are there any good alternatives to applying for payday loans?
I'm sure a payday loan can be a great help but then you'd have to pay it back, with interest! So, are there any other options? Besides borrowing money from friends, which is something I'd really like to avoid at all costs!
 
Well, one idea, which I put into practice myself, is to ask your employer for an advance on your paycheck. This worked GREAT for me! I needed the money fast and I also managed to avoid paying fees &interest. Of course, not all employers will agree, and another downside is that your next paycheck will be "thinner". But all in all, it's definitely worth giving it a try!
 
Have you considered a credit union loan? They have low interest rates, which is definitely a plus! Not all credit unions require you to invest money previously, to be approved for a loan, so give this alternative a try, it may be worth it.
