Hey everyone,

I’m currently going through the recruitment process with JJ Richards as a truck driver. Just a quick question about the medical. I have a congenital heart condition, but it’s super well managed and doesn’t affect my ability to work at all. Would anyone be able to share what usually happens during the medical? For reference, I’m in Queensland.

So they’ll check your blood pressure and heart rate, and that’s pretty much it.

If your numbers come back wonky, well it’s safe to say things aren’t exactly under control

Personally, I’d just be straight with them from the get go. Keep your conscience clear, you know? Worst case scenario: you might have to do more frequent check ups. Not the end of the world. And honestly, if they tell you you’re not fit to work, maybe there’s a legit reason behind.it.

Typically, they'll check your blood pressure, weight, and height, and calculate your BMI. Then you'll step up and down for about 5 to 10 minutes remember to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. They'll also check if you can lift something heavy, so just squat and focus on bending your knees. It's a fairly standard driver medical. You'll be fine. If anything comes up, they'll let you know. Hopefully, the company is covering the cost of your medical.

Hey there, I'd really suggest just popping over to the medical clinic and having the practitioner do that fitness to drive assessment for you. You know, it's something you're legally required to share. You probably won’t find the exact answers you're looking for here on FB since every driver's situation is a little different. And honestly, you might be worrying when there’s really no need to stress!

Just so we're totally on the same page I'm not hiding anything at all. When they put on the heart rate monitor, they’ll notice that even a simple workout sends it shooting way up. I just wanted to get an idea of what to expect and maybe see if anyone else is in the same boat as me.
