Is it worth getting a christmas personal loan?

I'll go right ahead and give you two cents: I don't believe getting a Christmas loan is a good idea. Especially in my case, I already have debt to pay off, so getting another loan on top of it all is not OK!

However, there are many people who simply can't afford to make Christmas fun, so a loan is just what they need!
I have a friend who was invited to spend her Christmas with her family in Europe (@ her daughter's, who recently had a baby, so she won't be travelling to see her mom anytime soon!) but she can't afford it. She can't say no to seeing her daughter and granddaughter either! So, she's currently shopping around for a Christmas loan, it's her only option.

What do you think? Are Christmas loans scams or a helping hand to make the Holidays better?

I notice you're contradicting yourself there :) You say Christmas loans are not a good idea, but then you give the perfect example of someone who really needs one!
Anywho, IMO, the best option is an unsecured personal loan. You can borrow money with a fair interest rate (if you have good credit) and you can pay it back in 1-2 years.
