This isn’t really about finance, except that it’s connected to my work number.
Lately, I’ve been overwhelmed by calls from Indian telemarketing centers, all saying they can get me a better energy deal. Right now, they’re calling me five or six times a day, from mobiles, landlines, and private numbers.
What hurts the most is that they aren’t using my name—they’re using my dad’s. That means the only possible way they got my number like this is through Telstra. Either they sold my details to a third party, or they were hacked and haven’t told anyone. I’ve only ever used my dad’s name with this number once, when I helped my parents sort something out with their account.
I was simply blocking landline numbers, but because this is my work number—and I run my own business, so it’s also my personal number—I can’t ignore or block calls from mobile numbers.
After a few weeks, I started being really rude, hoping they would just blacklist me and stop calling so often.
So after all that, I have to ask—is there anything I can honestly do to make these calls stop? I’ve told them again and again to delete my number and not call anymore, but nothing seems to work.
