How do I stop relentless Indian telemarketers calling my work number?

This isn’t really about finance, except that it’s connected to my work number.

Lately, I’ve been overwhelmed by calls from Indian telemarketing centers, all saying they can get me a better energy deal. Right now, they’re calling me five or six times a day, from mobiles, landlines, and private numbers.

What hurts the most is that they aren’t using my name—they’re using my dad’s. That means the only possible way they got my number like this is through Telstra. Either they sold my details to a third party, or they were hacked and haven’t told anyone. I’ve only ever used my dad’s name with this number once, when I helped my parents sort something out with their account.

I was simply blocking landline numbers, but because this is my work number—and I run my own business, so it’s also my personal number—I can’t ignore or block calls from mobile numbers.

After a few weeks, I started being really rude, hoping they would just blacklist me and stop calling so often.

So after all that, I have to ask—is there anything I can honestly do to make these calls stop? I’ve told them again and again to delete my number and not call anymore, but nothing seems to work.

I changed my voicemail to ask for a callback number because of spam. I also turned off message recording. Now my phone transcribes voicemails. I call new numbers back right away and save known contacts. Telemarketers never leave messages.

Just tell them it's a wrong number, a nd you don't have an energy account.
That’s what I did. After three months, they stopped calling.

They have to share feedback with the company that sold them your details.
Over time, someone should update their records and mark the information as wrong.

From my research, I learned they got my number when I bought my house.
The phone number they called wasn’t even linked to my Telstra account.
And the name they used wasn’t mine.

My dad bought raffle tickets for a Mustang. He used my mobile number on the form. He does not have a mobile. They earn more from selling information than from the raffle tickets.

I run a construction company and used to get at least five cold calls a day. Now whenever I pick up and it's a cold caller, I launch right into my own super pushy sales pitch about doing a renovation on their house. Haven’t gotten a single call since. Works like a charm.
