How can I quickly improve my credit score?

You can’t. Scores take forever to rise.

Miss a payment: it sticks with you seven years. Leave a balance on your credit: closer to max, worse the score. Try for too much credit too fast: also bad.

The credit game must be played well. Otherwise, it can punish. Extremely.

Pay on time. Every time.

Check your credit report for wrong info. Pay off collections. Get a credit card. Pay it off each month.

Doing this raised my score 100 points in 3 months.

It takes time. Stay on top of it.

What the above says is not true. I have helped people increase scores in a matter of months. It is hard to say how to increase when you cannot see the negative marks.

Call your credit cards and see if you can get them to bump up your credit limit! Just don’t use the cards more! That’ll increase your debt to credit ratio. Paying off more of your cards will help too, but that takes longer!

Honestly the slow answers here are closer to my experience. I wanted a quick fix when I started rebuilding and there just was not one. What moved mine a bit was boring stuff, paying on time every single month and keeping my one card well under its limit, plus checking my reports for an old error. It was months, not weeks, but the trend finally went the right way and stayed there.
