How can I manage a tight budget alone after major losses in 2024?

Mary. 59 years old. Living between Hampton Roads, VA and OBX.

2024 was a horrible year.

January: I totalled my car. I hit a curb while avoiding a truck. I bought a used 2011 car. Three months later,.I had a $1000 repair bill plus a new car loan.

A month later: My roommate of 15 years died. This was after a 5-year battle with CHF and cancer.

A month later: A dog we bought together died of old age.

Three months later: During a storm, my home roof collapsed. Insurance denied the claim, calling it maintenance.

So, in 9 months I lost a car, a roommate, a dog, and my home of 29 years.

I am now living alone with my dogs. This is the first time in 15 years.

My loan for a new home is on hold for 12 months. I must pay down debt from my 2024 financial disasters first.

My budget is so tight. It is alarming to me.

I am looking for support and ideas for a single income on a tight budget. How can I keep the course for 12 months? How do I not be totally stressed and depressed? Is this even possible?
