How can I make extra money fast with no gig apps available?

Looking for extra money ideas? Bills are piling up with two kids to care for. I’ve tried Grubhub, Instacart, and DoorDash, but they’re all waitlisted near me. Spark Driver isn’t an option here either. I’m already selling what I can. Plus, I work a full-time job and put in at least five extra hours a week already!

hmm, not sure if this is even on ur radar, but babysitting could work? u can do it from home, on ur own time, and obvi set ur own rates ‍♀️ another idea: take a hobby or skill and make it a side hustle. like, if u have a cricut, u could sell custom stuff. or if ur a baking queen , u could bake for friends & fam (just check local rules about kitchens before going public tho).

I dabble in a little couponing, mostly to resell and save some cash for myself. I also love picking up things at auctions, giving them a good clean, and selling them on. Plus, I grow plants and sell those, too. Sure, it all eats up time and the profit isn't huge, but it's enough to cover a bill or two each month, which really helps!

I'd suggest finding ways to trim your spending. Maybe try cutting back on everything except what you really need for day to day life. If you have cable, consider dropping it, along with any subscriptions you can do without. It could also help to start cooking all your meals from scratch and planning them ahead of time.

I took a per diem job at our local nursing home. The base pay wasn't high, but holidays pay double time, and they count 11 holidays each year. I worked as many holidays as possible to make the most of it.

Bartending and waiting tables can also pay well, especially at wedding venues.

You're truly doing all you can, and that shows such genuine courage. Since apps like DoorDash aren't an option right now, perhaps something simple from home might bring a bit of relief like offering nearby help with babysitting, pet care, or tutoring, or even taking on small online tasks such as freelance admin work or selling printables. I know none of this solves everything quickly, but each small step truly matters and builds up over time.

Consider hyper-local services: offer babysitting, pet care, or tutoring in your neighborhood via community boards. Also, explore online micro-tasks (data entry, transcription) on sites like Clickworker or freelance admin work on Upwork. These bypass app waitlists and can start quickly around your schedule.

Hey, have you heard about Amazon Flex? Is that available around here? It's pretty similar to Spark. You're just delivering Amazon packages.

Since app gigs are blocked, try offering immediate local services like yard work, garage organizing, or minor home repairs. Many neighbors need quick help and pay cash. This leverages your time directly, avoids waitlists, and can start this weekend. Every small job adds up and builds a local reputation for more work.

Look beyond apps to immediate local needs. Offer weekend services like lawn mowing, garage cleaning, or minor handyman tasks for cash. Post on neighborhood forums or community boards. This taps into a direct, often-overlooked market with faster payment and no platform waitlists, fitting around your existing schedule.

Since you already have kids, offer weekend "parent's night out" babysitting for multiple families at once. You're providing a needed service, can charge per child, and it utilizes your existing home/skills. Post in local parent groups; demand is often high and payment is immediate cash.

Since gig apps are saturated, leverage your existing skills locally. Offer weekend services like organizing garages, minor repairs, or "parent's night out" childcare for multiple kids. These fill immediate neighborhood needs, pay cash quickly, and avoid waitlists. Your full-time schedule means you can market these as limited, high-value slots, creating urgency and better rates.
