beginning to work on improving my credit report

I'm beginning to work on improving my credit report. I want to get things paid off and removed. After reviewing my 3 reports, I noticed hard inquiries and soft inquiries.

Is it possible to get these removed? Does removing them increase your credit scores?

Soft inquiries do not affect your credit score. Hard inquiries affect it for a year. They remain on the report for two years. The negative effect wanes as it ages. Still, it is small compared to other factors. On time payment history. Credit usage. Length of credit history. Derogatory items. I have never had success with removing a bogus one. But it may be worth a try for a few points.
