I have a question: is there any alternative to getting a mortgage insurance? I've heard there are pros and cons to getting a mortgage insurance, so I thought.. hmm.. why not get a job-loss insurance instead? Is this wise? Can anyone please help?

What happens if, say, you have debt but lose your job? (like I did... ) Will debt collectors still come after you? Will they allow you some time, to get back on your feet, before "harassing" you with letters and calls?

Here's my story, in a few words: about 2 years ago, I borrowed $35,000, I needed it for house repairs /remodeling. Back then it was a smart move, I really needed the money and was happy to get approved for the loan. However, about 5 months ago I lost my job! So, I'm having a hard time paying off...

Just to satisfy my own curiosity, what happens if you simply ignore your debt? Say you have credit card debt, a few thousand $$, and you simply won't pay it down. You ignore all debt collectors and just go on with your life as if you didn't owe money to anyone. What happens? What's the worst...
