Hello!

I understand someone tried to serve you papers from Midland while you were away. What should you do next? Your babysitter declined to accept them, stating her name wasn't on the documents. The amount in question is $3,000.

They took me to court. Actually, I didn't even know. Found out after they won. I wasn't there. Didn't show up.

Two months ago, post judgment discovery arrived. I didn't want bankruptcy. So I sent the paperwork back. Notarized. Said I'm judgment proof. My only assets? Judgment proof. My only income? Judgment proof.

I'm in Texas. If you need help, just say the word.

If the babysitter does not reside at the address and is not listed on the official documentation, service may not be considered valid. Official servcie may not yet have been completed.

It is advisable not to avoid the matter, however. Should proper service occur, ensure a timely response is filed to prevent a default judgment.

Regarding the $3,000 claim, immediate concern may not be necessary. Midland typically acquires debt at a low cost and may face challenges in demonstrating ownership or specific details in court. Options may include contesting the claim or negotiating a reduced settlement.

Please provide your state of residence, as service regulations differ by jurisdiction.
