Owning your property OUTRIGHT, use it as Airbnb income to live overseas.

Anyone here own their home outright and Airbnb it as a main source of income while living overseas for 3–6 months fo the year? The wife and I are thinking mainly Vietnam and Japan, as the cost of living and short-term rental there are a lot lower than Sydney, and wherever makes sense toward future retirement when the kids move out.
Our place would get atm $1,300–$1,400 per week as a standard rental. Airbnb towards $2,000–$2,500 per week on average. Maybe more, but with variations when vacant.
Interested to hear how others have done something similar: travel frequently while in retirement.
NO idea how people can retire in Sydney and live a comfortable life with the high cost of living here.
