How to apply for a credit card for the first time?

Are there any easy credit cards available for someone who doesn't have a credit history? o_O
I'm not really interested in using one to it's full potential, but I heard credit cards are a great way to build credit score? If this is the case, where should I turn to to apply for a credit card in my name?
 
I think the easiest 2 ways to get approved for a credit card for the first time is to apply for a prepaid one or apply for one with someone co-signing the papers.
The first option is great, because you don't need any credit history to get approved, since you won't be able to exceed you limit or do anything reckless. It's prepaid!
The second option, however, is tricky. If you have someone you trust a lot, then you could try asking them to co-sign for you. The problem is that, if you make a mistake, both your credit scores will suffer!
