Can I Fight a Collection Agency for Old Debt?

Got a letter from a collection agency about a super old debt—over 7 years! They’re saying there’s a court date soon. Can they really go after me? Is there a way to fight back? I need to figure this out fast!
 
That does sound a bit off. You could reach out to them, but I think they're just trying to scare you. Go ahead and dispute it just let it go until they send something official.
