Can I Cosign for Husband's Car Loan After Bankruptcy?

My husband is filing for bankruptcy. We need a newer car since ours is old. I have good credit, but I'm a stay-at-home mom. Can I co-sign for him, or can we both be on the loan using my credit score?

Hey! Struggling with bad credit? Here's a tip: if your spouse has better credit, they could apply for the loan instead. This can help you get approved more easily and avoid higher interest rates. Simple and effective!

So, if your credit's in good shape, they don’t even ask for the paycheck proof. Probably won’t need him for that. I work, have solid credit, and they’ve never asked for my paycheck. No need to drag him into it.

To be honest, I’ve had moments where my income was lower than my husband’s, and we turneed to a credit union. It wasn’t an issue at all they offered a better interest rate because my credit score was higher than the cosigner’s. Now, I’m not entirely sure how it works when one person doesn’t have an income, but I think it’s worth trying what’s the worst they can say? I believe it’s based on household income, so I don’t think it should be a problem.
